Understanding Microsoft Word functions bars



TITLE BAR:
the title bar displays the name of the package you are running, save and unsaved work, as well as the minimize button (-), restore down   (     ) and close button (X).

MENU BAR: the menu bar is the most important bar in Microsoft word, it displays the most essential and frequently used tools in ms word e.g. Home tab, Insert tab, Page layout tab, References tab, mailing tab, Review tab and the View tab. Later you will be taught how to make use of the above mentioned tools as we continue in this study


OFFICE BUTTON  the office button contains also properties that is frequently used in ms word. Eg. New, Open, Save, Save as, Print Etc.

PRINTABLE PAGE: the printable page is the area in your document that you type, draw objects or shapes and other manipulations in ms- word. It is usually blank (white) except you have entered text on it or change the color of the background.

DISPLAY BAR: the display button shows the contents of the tools in menu bar. Eg. If you click on insert the display button will show the contents of the insert for your manipulations.

SCROLL BUTTON: we have vertical and horizontal scroll bar. The vertical scroll bar is used to scroll the window or your document up /down while the horizontal scroll bar is used to scroll the window or your document left /right.
RULER BAR: we also have vertical and horizontal ruler bar, they are used to review the margin, and they can also be used to measure the straightness of your diagram or text.

START BUTTON: the start button is the area where all the packages and programs that are installed in your computer system are found. While the icons serves as short cuts.

STATUS BAR: the status bar is also called massage bar because it reviews information about a current command or function/ tool (Corel).

 THE TASK BAR the task bar is located at the bottom part of the screen, it contains properties like the start button , active desktop, minimized work, time/date etc.

ZOOM BUTTON the zoom button is used to expand your page to a clearer view, also used to reduce to the lower or normal size
